Junjie Luo
Junjie Luo has taught Chinese language courses at all levels, from first-year to fourth-year, as well as an introductory course on Chinese culture and society and a literature course on Chinese identity. Recently, he ventured into teaching Cultural Analytics, a data science course co-developed with Meg Blume-Kohout.
Luo’s research employs transcultural frameworks to examine Chinese literature. He is the author of Traditional Chinese Fiction in the English-Speaking World: Transcultural and Translingual Encounters (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022). His essays have appeared in Comparative Literature Studies, Perspectives, ISLE, Translation Quarterly, and two edited volumes: Historic Engagements with Occidental Cultures, Religions, Power and Philosophy as World Literature. He has also served as a guest editor for two special issues of Translation Quarterly on “Traveling Texts.”
Currently, he is particularly interested in exploring the intersections of technology and literary studies. He serves on the Modern Language Association Task Force on World Languages and Generative AI.
