Center for Public Service Sustainability
Sustainability Initiatives
Gettysburg already has a campus-wide sustainability commitment and ongoing work across operations and academics. CPS initiative aims to support, strengthen, and expand everyday sustainability practices for students, staff, and offices by making action more accessible and straightforward through clear communication about how campus systems work, identifying practical opportunities for improvement, and spreading awareness across the community.
Our goal is to make participation simple and inclusive, because sustainability affects everyone. Small, consistent choices across campus help protect the ecosystems we depend on and support Gettysburg’s long-term collective progress.
Supporting Sustainability Across Campus
We support campus sustainability by combining practical guidance, partnerships, and clear communication.
Office & Department Sustainability Consulting
We work with offices and departments to strengthen everyday practices like recycling practices, purchasing choices, sustainable event planning, etc.
Sustainability Assessment & Progress Tracking
We aim to support teams understand what they’re already doing well and identify realistic next steps by using simple measurement tools and structured check-ins to track progress over time.
Sustainability Awareness & Campus Communication
We share clear, accessible updates through social media and campus communications, explaining how campus systems work, answering common questions, and highlighting sustainability efforts that are already making an impact.
